Make a move towards Staying Fit While Pregnant
A woman has so many changes in her body during
her pregnancy. Not all the changes are good, there are some changes which are
not-so-good and might stimulate you. The secretion of hormones in your body
changes as per the time to prepare for breastfeeding. These changes not only
alter you physically but also affects your feeling and emotions. As these
changes occur, your breasts may feel tender and swollen.
Most importantly, a pregnant woman should have a
thorough medical checkup before picking any diet or anything. A weight loss
diet during pregnancy can be dangerous to you and to your baby as it may
restrain necessary nutrients that your body requires. At the time of pregnancy,
a woman will typically need to consume an extra 300 calories a day.
Things you should do during pregnancy
Increase
Your Potassium Intake: It keeps the fluid and
electrolyte balanced while you are pregnant. It also helps in the frequency of
nerve impulses, lesser the muscle contraction and release of energy from
carbohydrates, fat and protein.
Include
Magnesium Rich Foods to your diet: It helps to counter
the uterus from contracting prematurely and builds strong teeth and bones in
your baby.
Sources of magnesium: Almonds, bananas, beans,
cashews, pumpkin seeds, tofu, soy milk, potatoes with its peel, yoghurt,
blackstrap molasses, whole grains and green leafy vegetables.
Dairy
Products: Calcium is vital in building strong teeth
and bones, normal blood clotting, and muscle and nerve function. Since your
developing baby consumes nutrition via your body,
you need a substantial amount of Calcium and if
you lack, it can lead to future problems, such as osteoporosis.
Add
'Walking' in your daily regime: Walking is one of the
best cardiovascular exercises for pregnant ladies and it reduces the risk of
hypertension.
Things you should avoid during pregnancy
Avoid
Stress: If you're extremely concerned or unnecessarily
afraid about your baby's health, share your concerns with your family or doctor
as the stress level troubles baby's health and growth.
Losing
Weight: Weight gain is normal during pregnancy and it
is healthy too as you carry a baby inside you. But if you are concerned about
weight then do exercises for a balance but don't restrict nutrition and
required calories.
Too much
consumption of Salt: Sodium is undoubtedly necessary
for a body but an increased amount of sodium can cause swelling of the face,
hands, legs, ankles and feet — called oedema which is a very common pregnancy
symptom.
